Some people feel more guilt than others. There’s nothing wrong with feeling guilty when you really have something to feel guilty about – in fact I’d be worried if you didn’t feel guilt in these circumstances. Do something different at the weekend. Feel free to plan ahead, but a break from routine can be very revitalising. Also, it gets you out of a rut, will help get you excited about life and will give your brain a workout. You are no longer following the same pattern, so will have to think about your actions.

Prove that you can change. That you are stronger than you ever thought possible. Give up a habit for a week, or even a month. It does not have to be one of your worst habits – but enough to be a learning experience. From there, you may want to build on your success and break the habit for good, or choose something you know will be life altering.

If you worry too much what people think, you can find yourself stuck, going nowhere fast. Even worse, when the people you are worrying about are full of criticism and scepticism for your plans and ideas. Remember that people can be uneasy with change and may try to hold back people trying to get ahead, in an attempt to maintain their own comfort levels.

Having regrets can mean a life of misery. You feel irritated and helpless. If only I had done x. Yet the reality is, what’s done is done and you cannot change the past. So try and spend time thinking about the reasons why it is not worth having regrets. Maybe do some research to discover the impact it can have on your wellbeing. Once you understand that holding on to regrets isn’t healthy, perhaps you can finally overcome yours?

Whether it is your home phone, mobile or work phone, try to inject a bit of you in the message. Of course, be mindful of the recipient, but there’s no reason why you can’t have fun.
