Try to keep the promises and agreements you’ve made with another. Whether it is keeping a time to meet a friend for lunch, or meeting a request to do a particular task, try to follow through. Even better, put the effort in to do something ahead of time, or arrive early for an appointment. You’ll feel good and so will the other person.

Give your relationship a happiness boost with some easy to implement ideas. Give your partner a hug on a daily basis. Whilst there, say something nice. Show them you are grateful they are in your life. When you can, hold their hand. Finally, remember to talk to them – don’t let issues build up. This also means resolving conflicts sooner rather than later.

Do something different at the weekend. Feel free to plan ahead, but a break from routine can be very revitalising. Also, it gets you out of a rut, will help get you excited about life and will give your brain a workout. You are no longer following the same pattern, so will have to think about your actions.

If you want to make time for a particular project or activity, then you will need to make an important decision. What are you going to stop doing? Because you are always doing something (even staring at the walls is something, it’s just not that productive). So you must decide what you are going to do less of or give up altogether in order to make time for your new plans.

If you have the courage to take responsibility for your life and all that happens in it, you are freeing yourself up to have a fantastic life. No longer at the mercy of other people’s decisions, or blaming others when things go wrong. Instead you will stop feeling like a victim with no control and become someone who is genuinely living their own life. What can be better than that?

Do your goals tend to be around specific areas? Perhaps you focus more on career, but neglect your emotional wellbeing. Take the time to consider different areas of your life and set yourself achievable goals for each. Prove that you can change. That you are stronger than you ever thought possible. Give up a habit for a week, or even a month. It does not have to be one of your worst habits – but enough to be a learning experience. From there, you may want to build on your success and break the habit for good, or choose something you know will be life altering.
