I must do this, I should do that. We have these rules that can sometimes dominate our life. It’s your life and so the rules you live by should be your own. For instance, decorate your house how you want and not worry about whether your visitors will ‘approve’. Or read the books you want, rather than the ones you feel you ought.
Try to be loyal to your friends and family and support them as needed. Sometimes this is about putting their needs before your own. People want to be supported and your loyal actions will be appreciated. It may help to recall times when people have displayed their loyalty towards you. Remember how it felt to have someone in your corner?
Take a look at the contents of your bedside cabinet. Is there anything special there that brings you joy or pleasure? If not, take the time to place things on it that do just that. It’s one of the last things you see before you go to sleep each night, so you may as well have things you enjoy on it.
When working on a project, take the time to check all the relevant details have been covered. Keep lists if necessary. Not only will you feel more in control throughout the project, you are also less likely to have that stomach-churning experience when you realize you’d forgotten a particular detail, but it’s too late to change it.
Try sharing with others the knowledge you have acquired about what makes a happier life. Hopefully the recipient will learn something which inspires them to make positive changes in their life. Sharing this happiness stuff may also help keep you on the track on your own happiness path and keep you inspired and uplifted.
